Circuits in Australia
Australia has always been a permanent fixture on the international motorsport scene. The Australian Grand Prix has been held at such illustrious venues as Phillip Island, Bathurst, Melbourne, Surfers Paradise and Adelaide since 1928. The race has been a constant on the annual Formula One calendar since its 50th anniversary in 1985. While the Grand Prix in Adelaide traditionally brought the curtain down on each the season up to 1995, Albert-Park in Melbourne has regularly hosted the opening Grand Prix of the year since 1996.
MotoGP has also made the long trip "Down Under" every year since 1989. The American Indycar series also visited Australia's Gold Coast once a year between 1991 and 2008.
