Sports car and motorbike races have been held on the original circuit of the former Donneybrooke Speedway since the 1960s, when it hosted the IndyCar series for the first time. The circuit is almost completely flat and regarded as being extremely quick. As safety barriers have largely been done without, the circuit is ideally suited to motorbikes. The run-off zones are very expansive, making the circuit very safe.

In 2008 a new circuit, slightly shorter circuit was added, along with a drag strip, which is hugely popular and hosts many important events. In 2005, Tony Schumacher set a new world record of 543.28 km/h in a dragster.
