The Sturup Raceway is located about 30 kilometers east of Malmo, not far from the airport. From 1972, this circuit was initially restricted to purely Rally Cross races. Only later was the entire Sturup Raceway tarmaced, making the racetrack ready for circuit races from 1990 onwards. The circuit was extended in 2001 with an additional section above the original switchback at the northern end of the track.

In the course of this substantial extension, a new, modernized pit lane was also constructed. This made the Sturup Raceway an attractive venue for both the Swedish and the Danish Touring Car Championships.
