The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the best-known racetracks in the USA. Every year it hosts the famous Indy 500. Despite the name, however, the circuit is not located in Indianapolis itself, but in Speedway, an enclave suburb of Indianapolis.

The facility features an oval, as well as an infield circuit, which incorporates parts of the oval. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has the nickname Brickyard, as the surface originally consisted of bricks. In 1960 the bricks made way for new asphalt, apart from one row on the start/finish line. As well as the Indy 500, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has also welcomed Formula One, IndyCar, NASCAR and MotoGP events.
