This race circuit situated in Sicily surrounds the only lake on the island, namely Lago di Pergusa, and is remarkable for having an extended oval layout interspersed by sharp corners and sudden changes in direction. Since the sixties the circuit has hosted regional motorsport events; however, at one stage it promoted a number of non-championship Mediterranean Formula 1 Grands Prix.

Renovations to the circuit in the 1990s ensured higher safety standards, enabling the Autodromo di Pergusa to attract F3000, and also served to enable the circuit to host the Ferrari Festival.
