As is the case with most racetracks in the USA, the Heartland Park Topeka possesses a dirt oval, as well as a road circuit and a drag strip. The facility was opened in 1989 and was the subject of extensive renovations in 2003. The modification work included 33 new garages, a new technology building and a new timing building.

As well as various races and car shows, the Heartland Park Topeka also hosts music concerts and other events.
