Qatar

Motorsport plays a central role in the Emirate of Qatar, situated in the Persian Gulf. The country’s best-known driver is Nasser Al-Attiyah, winner of the 2011 Dakar Rally, former PWRC- und Rally Raid World Champion, and multiple Middle East Rally Champion. However, Qatar also plays an important international role in circuit racing.
The Losail International Circuit, situated near the capital Doha and opened in 2004, has played host to MotoGP since then. The Superbike World Championship has made numerous visits to Losail, as has the Endurance World Championship. Losail has also hosted various international four-wheeler events.
