Netherlands

The Netherlands is a small country with a huge interest in motorsport. While it only has two major circuits, they each boast a legendary reputation. On the one hand is the Circuit Park Zandvoort on the north-west coast - for many years a Formula One circuit that is now used for touring car championships. On the other hand, the T Circuit Assen - Europe's most iconic motorbike circuit, which is also lovingly known by fans as "Cathedral".
The enthusiasm for motorbike racing in the Netherlands is immense. The most successful riders are triple sidecar World Champion Egbert Streuer and Jan de Vries, two-time champion in the 50cc class. Many motorsport fans will also be familiar with Formula One driver Jos Verstappen. With 107 races and 17 World Championship points to his name, he is the most successful Belgian driver at the highest level of motor racing. During the time he was racing, Verstappen had a larger fan club than any other active Formula One driver.
