Indonesia

For many decades Indonesia has been extremely enthusiastic about motorsport despite not yet having delivered an international star. The Ancol Circuit first hosted the Indonesian Grand Prix for single-seater racing cars in 1976, with a follow up event held at the Sentul International Circuit in 1993.
However, Indonesia’s hopes of hosting Formula 1 have thus far proven unsuccessful, although the motorcycle world championship twice raced in Sentul: in 1996 and 1997. An increasing number of international championships have recently expressed interest in staging rounds in Indonesia.
