A rugged, coarse landscape and idyllic coastal roads make Croatia an excellent insider's tip for ambitious motorcyclists, whose passion is shared by the country's population. Before the collapse of the former Yugoslavia, Croatia had for a long time already been a permanent venue for the Motorbike World Championship. The street circuit in Opatija on the Adriatic Coast was regarded as the "Monaco" of motorcycling. In the meantime, speedway races are now also extremely popular in Croatia. The country even hosts rounds of the FIM Speedway World Championship. Jurica Pavlic has represented his country successfully in this discipline.
