Argentina

Argentina provided Formula 1 with the sport’s first superstar: Juan Manuel Fangio, who was five times crowned world champion in the 1950s, a record which would stand for half a century before being broken by Michael Schumacher. A total of 22 Argentine drivers have represented their country in the top category, including seventies star Carlos Reutemann.
Argentina’s motorsport tradition harks back to the 1930s, with the Buenos Aires Grand Prix being run since 1930, with Formula 1 racing in Buenos Aires 21 times between 1953 and 1998. The local Autódromo Alfredo Gálvez also hosted ten motorcycle world championship rounds from 1961, with MotoGP destined to return to Argentina in 2013.
