Homestead Miami Speedway is situated approximately 30 minutes southwest of Miami, Florida. It opened in November 1995 to a NASCAR Nationwide Series race, and staged its first ChampCar Series round a few months later. Since 2002 Homestead's oval has hosted the Ford Championship Weekend, the season finale for all NASCAR series.

In 2003 the oval was reconfigured, with corner banking becoming steeper, albeit with varying angles. Shortly thereafter a floodlighting system was installed to facilitate night events. Homestead Miami Speedway also features an infield circuit which may be combined with the oval. Beside NASCAR, Homestead hosts IRL and GrandAm Series rounds.
