Rudskogen Motorsenter is Norway's oldest asphalt course, having opened in 1990. Due to its southerly location the facility is able to operate longer than other circuits in Norway, which led the government to classify the circuit as the country's national motorsport center. Thereafter the circuit was totally upgraded following a redesign by Hermann Tilke.

The circuit is available for both cars and motorcycles, and is classed as reasonably challenging. It has an elevation change of over 25 metres, and passes through forested land. During the upgrade program a karting circuit was added.
