The Santa Pod Raceway is the most famous drag strip outside of America, and is known as the "Home of European Drag Racing". Among others, the circuit hosts the FIA European Drag Racing Championships. No less than 50 horsepower-fuelled events are held at the Santa Pod Raceway between January and November.

Santa Pod is located near the town of Podington, north-west of Northampton. The raceway was born during an era, in which drag racing was growing in popularity in Great Britain in the 1960s. The runway at the former military airfield in Podington was transformed into a drag strip, which was opened in 1966. The name Santa Pod comes from the American drag strip Santa Ana, combined with Podington. Since the circuit was opened, speed junkies have flocked to Santa Pod in droves.
