The Karlskoga Motorstadion has existed since 1949, and is thus Sweden's oldest permanent race circuit. It is situated close to the town of the same name, and in the early sixties hosted numerous non-championship Formula 1 races, attracting such stars as Stirling Moss, Jim Clark and Jack Brabham. 1967 saw the race renamed the Swedish Grand Prix, with overall honours that year going to Jackie Stewart.

During the past two decades the Karlskoga Motorstadion was comprehensively renovated and modernized. It currently hosts Swedish national car and motorcycle championship rounds, plus club events.
