The Circuito do Estoril is situated on the outskirts of the Portuguese city of Estoril. Between 1984 and 1996 the circuit hosted the Portuguese Grand Prix, with the World Motorcycle and World Touring Car Championships continuing at Estoril to the present day.

The circuit was built on a rocky plateau in 1972, initially hosting only local events. After a massive upgrade programme in 1984, the circuit attained international status. Its primary characteristics are two hairpins, major changes in elevation and an unusually long main straight.
