The Pocono Raceway is a so-called super speedway, a high-speed circuit also known in the USA as a "Tricky Triangle" due to its triangular shape. What sets this track apart in the eyes of many drivers and fans is the fact that all three corners are totally different, thus putting greater emphasis on the driver's performance than is the case at the conventional high-speed ovals.

The circuit in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains has for a long time hosted the IndyCar Series. Emerson Fittipaldi set the track record of about 340 km/h back in 1989 - a record that still stands today. Following extensive redevelopment in recent years, the circuit is now primarily used for stock car races and sprint races in the NASCAR Series. As well as professional racing, the Pocono Raceway's additional infield variants make it an outstanding test track and a popular circuit for motorsport clubs and driving schools.
