The Augusta International Raceway was the venue for some of America's largest racing events in the 1960s. One of the most famous of these was the "Augusta 510", an endurance race that started at 12:00 and finished at 17:00.

Some years ago, a club was established with the goal of maintaining the cultural legacy of the Augusta International Raceway, which was closed in 1970. A large historical motorsport centre aimed at documenting the history of the racetrack for future generations is planned within the new Diamond Lakes Community Center, which has been built on the site.
