The circuit is situated approximately ten kilometers outside the historic town of Falkenberg, itself nestling on Sweden's south-west coast. Construction of the oval-shaped track commenced in 1967, although for many years the area had hosted races run on public roads.

The original layout was changed in 2004, essentially to incorporate a chicane for safety reasons. Long, arcing corners permit high average speeds, with up to 2,300 spectators attending Swedish Touring Car rounds at the Motorbana complex.
