The Nring is a project instigated by Russian investors/motorsport enthusiasts, and was opened in 2010. The contracted name refers to the location of the motorsport complex, situated near Nischni Nowgorod, Russia's fifth-biggest city situated approximately 400 kilometers east of Moscow. The Nring complies with FIA Grade 2 requirements, and is suitable for all two- and four-wheeled motorsport categories save for Formula 1.

The circuit offers seven different configurations, with sections also doubling as a drag strip, oval circuit or kart track. The calendar of the Nring lists various Russian car and motorcycle championship rounds, amateur meetings, driver training offered by professional drivers, manufacturer events and private functions.
